Korea kicks us off

»Posted by on May 14, 2013 in Kianiblog | 0 comments

It is that time of the year. The seal of the season has been broken, and we are now officially on with the World Cup season. For me, this is already my second event after visiting Weymouth in England for a short while before heading onwards to Korea. Touchdown Korea! Korea, a county which always amazes me with its beautiful countryside and a level of organization which just makes everything so efficient. Already when you land at Seoul Incheon airport, you notice this. I think there is a reason this airport has been voted best airport in the world. It’s my fifth time in Korea, and for every time, I have liked this country more. The organizers always take good care of us and things happen at an easy pace. Okay I will admit, coming from Europe with all of your...

Rehearsals are over

Its game time!. The sand on your feet from the beautiful beaches of Hawaii have now been replaced with airport halls, jetlags, bags, jackets..a life on the move. Although I’m sad to be leaving Maui, I am super excited to get started with some racing, traveling and improving over the previous years accomplishments. Bye bye beautiful Maui! As usual, the last couple of weeks on Maui were crazy times. Photo shooting got delayed as there  was no wind for a while which compressed everything into a few very hectic days. In the same time as preparing myself for the season and getting organized for leaving the island, I was definitely feeling the stress. Well as much stress as you can have on Maui! I only really started packing up on the last day, and as the day...

The big 30

»Posted by on Apr 14, 2013 in Kianiblog | 0 comments

The big 30, or is it that big? If the 30s are like the last couple of weeks have been, then I can’t really complain. Since the last time I managed to do some writing, there has been another change of scenery. The winter weather of Tarifa has yet again been replaced by the warm breezes of Hawaii. I’ve spent so much time here over the last year that it almost feel like home. Classical Maui To get back to the topic of starting up a new decade of my life, there really isn’t much I can say other than I feel great and can only be grateful for the people that have come into my life over these last years and all contributed to making my life pretty amazing. I feel ready to tackle another decade easily and have already started the year in the best...

Change of scenery

Times have changed. The relaxed good-feel of winter downtime on Maui has been replaced with the need to get everything in place for a new and exciting season. The calendar is more or less in place, the arrangements are being made and the regular sailing is now replaced with a goal oriented time on the water. Ohh man how times fly. It seems to me to always be the same, even though you try to prepare yourself for it every year, the mountain of things that need to get in place to go on tour for a guy like me just surprises you every time. The sunsets of Maui are hard to leave behind! In the earlier days, when I had an actual base, it was much easier to plan, and I could literally plan one trip at the time. But now I am dealing with plans looking months ahead,...

New years speech

»Posted by on Dec 31, 2012 in Kianiblog | 1 comment

As we are on the doorstep of a new year and a change in our time, like we always do, I have had a look into the twelve months which put together make for enough amazing experiences enough to put together several books. For the first time in years, I have truly been able to focus my energy on the things that I love the most without distractions which I hope to be able to continue on to the new year. Lots of change came into my life over the course of the year, but the most significant changes are probably my transformation from being a true Copenhagen boy with a solid base in the capitol of Denmark, to being a full on drifter which has had its definite ups and downs, but a life that I, for the moment, have come to embrace and have taken to the maximum level. Lots...
